I think you’ve got it backwards. Sounds like the barrel may be short chambered and just needs a reaming.

I highly doubt that the CMP is repairing stocks to improve lockup.

I believe that the square P is an indication of (the stock at least) being rebuilt at San Antonio Arsenal or Red River Army Depot.

Those are cool, but remember that a blueprint is an early form of photocopy. So those are copies not originals. Still worth something. They would look good framed and hanging on someone’s wall.

Yes, the D takes a different barrel. Remove the old and install the D barrel. They would have needed to be reamed to proper headspace as well.
