I have several hundred Turkish 8 mm Mauser rounds that I plan on pulling down. The plan is to load the powder and bullet into new boxer, primed brass. My question is, isn’t the Turkish 8 mm supposed...
I finally finished removing the glossy varnish from my 1895 and hand rubbing four coats of raw linseed oil into it. Looks good. So I took it to the range. Still shoots.

I decided...
ThAnkyou sir. I pretty much determined it would not be a good idea, but your first-hand Experience is yet another example of why I should not try.
Never mind. It makes sense from my reading that the thinner cup wall of the pistol primer would more than likely pierce, and could cause a catastrophic failure with the higher pressures of the rifle...
Somehow I managed to run out of large rifle primers for my 7 mm Mauser and similar milsurps. Any idea if large magnum, pistol primers would suffice? I have a good supply of those. I realize they are...
Thank you very much!
I know my Loewe Model 1895 7x57 is a weaker “small ring” action and should be hand loaded for accordingly.
But how about my Husky M640 “small ring” rifle that’s been re-barreled to 7x57?
Is it...
? at this point I suppose it doesn’t really matter anymore. Thanks for the laugh.
LOL! It’s pretty clear it’s a hammer and cycle stamp. I’m asking what does it represent? Proof mark? Acceptance mark? Etc…?
I just got this 7x57 Chileno M1895 and notice an odd crossed cycle and Hammer mark in a few spots. I don’t recognize this marking. Any help is greatly appreciated. This rifle is great! First firing...
Non corrosive?! Really! Well that’s nice to know. But I already cleaned with soapy water real good. Can you share where the non corrosive information came from? I’d like to read up on it. Thanks!
A friend gave me this ammo to shoot in my new Chilean 1895 Lowe Mauser.
Can anyone tell me if they’ve had experience with this ammo? Wondering how hot it might be. Safe to shoot? I would assume it...
I would happily let you know if I had a Springfield stripper clip to try. I guess it depends on if the Springfield clips are the same as the original cartridge the rifle was made for.
Thanks. I’ll check the vz24 rod. I haven’t been able to locate the hood.

Is your vz24 rod 14.5” long?
Thank you. Nice restoration. I actually finally finished mine as well. Mostly anyway…still need cleaning rod and front sight hood. And maybe an original sling? But I’ll probably keep the USGI leather...
Thank you for the information about the sling. I will look it up!
I know it is not correct for the rifle but it’s the one my uncle had on it. So….
If you are referring to the old sling on my Peruvian Mauser, that is the way it was attached when I got it. I will admit I am not familiar with that type of sling. I would appreciate any pointers on...
And then I find this an Apex. Looks about right, am I wrong?

I’ve been told that a vz24 handguard would be a good fit. I’d just have to shorten the front leg. Any thoughts or opinions on doing this? Any other possible substitutions?
Would any of the other FN 1935 short rifle models upper handguard work as a replacement for my Peruvian 1935 short rifle?
It really needs something on there.
I managed to get off a quick five rounds of Greek 82 HXP from my deck today. Distance was 82 yards. Hit high as expected.

Thank for the links. I’m going to test some HXP for group and velocity soon. Then I will do same for the KA and PS ammo my friend gave me.

Is this FN 98 MAUSER FRONT BAND correct/ same one used on my Peruvian FN Mauser?
FN 98 Mauser Front Band
Also, these Peruvian 30-06 mausers are considered Large Ringe, correct? For some reason...
Most of my personal M2 Ball is Greek HXP non corrosive from the CMP. Shoots great and reloadable. The Korean rounds we shot in the Mauser was just the one box of PS and the handful of KA my friend...
