Can anyone tell me what the market is like for a very nicely done professional deactivation of an MG 42 in Canada? The cover opens and it's cock and click. Really nice piece. All matching serial...
Well that is a good start, at 50% the restricted value. What would an all matching good to very good C96 commercial (no military markings) go for? Am I right in thinking it would sell for $2000 up...
Looking for help pricing out a handgun.
Love the broomhandles but the 12.6 prohib status hurts the valuation on any handgun. Luger prices are cheaper in Canada than the USA for that reason - and...
Since cerrosafe is another hard to find item in Canada (thank god my parents didn't move to Australia!) I made an 8mm-06 round and it won't chamber. So it is 30-06 with an extremely worn barrel.
...
By way of update. Been looking for some cerrosafe locally but it's not that easy to acquire, nor easy to find online in Canada.
The rifle chambers 30-06 rounds with no problems. I slugged the...
I suspect this rifle has been re-bored to 8mm-06. It seems to be the only plausible explanation for everything.
I will do a chamber cast to confirm and report back here.
Thanks for everyone's...
The previous seller did fire one 30-06 round, successfully, and witnessed by others. Not sure what it hit or hit the target fully tumble sideways, but it fired.

Not as bad as a sewer pipe, but the worst bore I have for sure. There are faint traces of rifling looking down it. Faint. It is incredibly dirty and some pitting in places. I have gone through with...
8mm-06? I thought that was guys with Mausers after the war wanting to use an 06' casing for their 8mms.
Is there any other test I can do? Would a local gunsmith be any help here?
Hi guys.
I have a worn milsurp barrel for 1941 Johnson. Failed the bullet test so I put a .308 projectile down it and it went through the barrel just with gravity.
I thought going up a notch would...
Great pics, so this is the slim jim then?
Thanks, but unfortunately those pics are a bit too far to see any details in the pistol grip. What are the different markings you are referring to? Hopefully if someone has a pic of a slim jim it...
Does anyone have pics of what the fat boy pistol grip stock looks like compared to a slim jim?
I am looking at an M1A1 stock that has HIGH wood. Everything checks out on the stock, but I have...
Thanks for that detailed explanation on some of the issues. I have two other conversions I am working on (351WSL from 357Max and .455 Webley from 45 Colt) but pistol ammo seems much easier.
I...
I have an original 8x50 caliber M95 Steyr. Not the 8x56 conversion, and this is not the same round as 8x50 Lebel.
I understand there is a possibility of reloading it by making casings from...
Thanks guys, that is what I suspected but wanted to confirm with the experts!
Found a guy here that is casting 265gr bullets too. All sorted.
Cheers.
Just picked up a nice 1918 Webley along with some 1924 dated 455 Colt Eley rounds and about 50 empty casings in same.
Can someone confirm or correct the following?
1. 455 Colt Eley is the...
I have a Mk IIIB and need to adjust the windage.
What is the best method of adjusting the front sight?
Thanks!
Some great advice and digesting volumes of information from several sources.
Will limit any antique buying to local, and not online for the time being.
Thanks!
I just watched a video on a guy using shotshells for 577. Seems like a really easy and cheap way to fire that calibre.
Gentlemen.
Never ventured further back than WW1 rifles until I recently picked up a 71/84 Mauser.
Love at first sight.
I seem to have a bug here. These old rifles are beautiful!
Ok, so where...
Nice one Homer - that's the kind of rifle that has been on my wish list for some time. Hopefully Santa recognizes one year what a good boy I have been.
I have a 1910 Ross MkIIIB - one of the British contract rifles with the unusual rear sight.
The serial number is H8**. I came upon an internet search where someone said all these rifles had a letter...
I have a 1918 SMLE that is a joy to shoot and forms part of a nice little WW1 collection I have. (model 1910 Mk.IIIb Ross, 1914 Mosin 91', M1917 1918 dated - trying to get an example of every service...
