Personally, I use the fat of the vanquished....but that's just me.
...and here we have the look on alterego's face (right) whilst Mighty Linus (left) is toying with his Bren gun without his security blanket...
Did u "tune" your ejector?
Lol, ok. Setting the firing pin aside, what do you recommend? Headspace is good, just an ammo change? Anything look amiss in the FAL cases to you?
Yes, it's Mighty Lime's (an individual who relishes using damned Bren guns to hurt my feelings) most excellent setup. Will try the firing pin ideas. Will attach image of same ammo shot through an...
LOL, Peter, I tend to agree with you...but I cannot find anything in the gun that would drive an overpressure situation. If you have any advice I'll work in those areas.
I'll try some more of...
Peter, please look at the corners of the primer, they don't look flattened...at least to me. Otherwise, yes it looks a bit ugly.
Please bear in mind that a semi is a bit different than the full...
303 bb, SA extractor and barrel. I've got a test I'll run tonight. I think I know what might be happening
Pin to hole fit looks good. I do not think its over pressure. Note primer isn't flat. Will double check headspace but don't anticipate problem there
Pics attached
I'll try to put some pics up. Something looks clearly amiss to me...
Guys,
Was shooting my L4 today and have some primers I am concerned about. Ammo used was factory Lake City 7.62x51 nato stuff. I am not getting flattened primers, but it does look like I am on...
Peter you're on the money! Funny enough, your BEF related comment is also on the money as this is for a double-dovetail build....
Gents,
I'm trying to find a couple MkIII straight thread gas tubes (specifically BE9294). Anyone have any idea where some of these might be found?
Got some SA extractors on the way, thanks for the help guys!
Gents,
I've got my L4A3 running and am trying to get to the bottom of the bolt deal.
Basic gun is a British L4A3, South African 7.62x51 barrel. I am running an UNMODIFIED 303 bolt with an L4A3...
Sorry 7.92 (i.e. 8mm Mauser)
Am I correct in understanding that the South African 7.62x51's used a 303 breech block?
Trying to help a friend with completion of a double dovetail MkI. Does anyone know when they stopped machining the mag well dimples into the receiver?
Well!
Fiiiiiinally got this thing done!
Ended up with a South African (I think) 308 barrel that required a 303 bolt with the 7.62 extractor to work. 8mm extractor wouldn't work (may check this...
Ok, dug into this a bit more. It just didn't make sense to me that they would have broached/shaped the forward bolt stops in the conversion process, just would have been too complex/time consuming. ...
Hey Britisher, thanks for the reply. Used the L4A3 front mag catch area. I assume by circular body inserts, you mean the circular mag supports-- yes it does. I'll have to spin some rivets on a...
Thank you all for your replies! As far as I can tell (from reading other threads) there are two bumps on the rear of the 303 barrel (left and right of barrel axis), these are flush with the forward...
Hello all, my first post here so please bear with me!
I have almost got my L4A3 back together and am having really only one final issue.
I do have a 7.62 marked locking shoulder installed, but...
