That serial is very early for a mk1*
I have 2 or 3 early ww1 dated web slings with that exact same style of ink N^Z stamping, I have never seen or heard of that stamping applied to a later sling. As most of our ww2 era slings are...
Your welcome, Nice to see them all together too!
That's a lovely little rifle, and a real bonus that you came across it's original matching numbers magazine too!
Are you able to get some more photos of the bolthead? I'm pretty sure I have a .22...
Nice early Maltby you have there Lance!
I have 3558, but no suffex after the number. I note from looking at a few earlyish Maltbys that the engraving or roll stamping position starts off quite alot...
Wow warren that's a great collection of .22s there! Thanks very much for getting thoes out for a picture!
Are you able to confirm that the bolthead from the no5 is the same length as the british...
So is anyone able to confirm what bolthead my spare one is? I'm looking to move it on but no point if I can't positively identify what it actually is! Cheers.
Thanks Patrick for putting up thoes photos on my behalf!, I can't seem to be able to upload them from my phone.
That "other" bolthead in the left of thoes pictures above is the same size...
Yep I'm here, send me the link to it.
I have a MECo 1914 webb and a wrights 1916 dated & N^Z marked webb sling spare, if ya can help me out with a mk1 smle nosecap, or waisted front sight protector / hinged front band for early no4,...
Nice trials T you have there! If you dont mind me asking what's the original scope number stamped into the wrist? I can only see 3 digits partly obscured by the bolt. Its Not 6009 by any chance?
Has the action body been re-numbered to match the bolt body?? Reason I ask is the maltby roll stamping on this one seems to be in the same spot like the higher serialized 41 dated ones I've noted....
Is there anyone in NZ or Aussie that knows what they are doing with these?? Not that mine needs rebuilding but just nice knowing anyhow.
Hi lance, is the front sight protector on the no2 cadet the same as found on the clle?
There seems to be a few different positions for that roll-stamp on the early ones, I have noted 3 different positions so far, the roll-stamp on my early 41 maltby is that far forward the ROFM and...
I have a NZ marked 1918 lsa mk111* with no magazine cutoff slot in the receiver, must be a very late one as it's the only lsa I have seen without the slot.
What maker uses F? I have two of them with F stamped on the body and leaf and one very faintly on the adjusting knob. One of them is on my maltby T and has had the underside of the leaf hollowed out...
Oh I want!!!
Good to see another maltby! Also like mine devoid of any of the normal T markings. Does yours have any inspection stamps or an E on the socket by the bolt entrance?
Any chance you could put up some pics of your Maltby? I also have an early Maltby T (four digit serial) ya just dont see many of them about
I was shooting my T out to 550 yards yesterday, after re setting the zero at 100 yards set on 1 it as simple as turning the dial to 5.5 for 550y and I was getting consistent hits on my gong.
I have successfully done the same just by a simple trigger or sear swap. Some of the triggers have different height engagement bumps on them, that really makes all the difference to the first and 2nd...
Hmm might be in the too hard basket for me then. I dont know of any other rifles to copy from either. As for the price well time will tell I guess it just depends on who wants want at the time, or...

A seldom seen bit of kit. No not mine.
What are these normally worth and what's involved in mounting such a thing? I've always fancied a smle sniper replica...
Well yes it certainly looks like the NZ purchased ones did, the story is we got a batch of 100 in the 50s. #33 has 33 0f 100 stamped into the wrist.
