Your technically not altering it...your just removing the Mag Catch and putting in one that will help you shoot 30's...If you been Shooting it your eventually going to have replace something in it....

I still think it would be be too Heavy and if your Mag Catch is Worn it won't feed properly...Get you a Type 4 Mag Catch if you use 30 Rounders and if you don't want to because your Carbine is all...
