7,62 BMG was a well loved gun in our army. As was the MAG.

I suspect there are good reasons why changing to 7,62X54 in a P14 isn't well known. Rechambering doesn't seem to be an issue, getting it to feed through the magazine and adapting the bolt are. ...

Basic safety precautions. No magazine in rile means accidental discharge is much less. Loaded magazines are immediately available. Low threat environment.

Looks like a good honest hunting rifle. Get a 5 shot magazine or cut that one to seat it flush with the trigger guard. Or add a scope too.

A favourite terrorist tactic is attacking/hostage of school bus and children, and schools. Arming teachers makes them less tempting.
