I'm curious about how many members here have been following Ian McCollum's (Forgotten Weapons) new book launch "Chassepot to FAMAS" on Kickstarter.
He raised $800,000+ USD during the Kickstarter...
Armour had black berets LONG before the Navy did....just sayin.

I agree with your C7 comments. That is why I built C7 & C8 clones with original carry-handle uppers for...
I find it hard to believe that 28 years ago I was a 19 year old officer cadet on basic armoured officer training at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown in New Brunswich.
One of the attendees was our...
I made up 55 rounds for my 2nd range trip. I tried to duplicate the M852 Match Load with the following:
50 x new Winchester .308 Brass, 5 x never fired OFV (Indian) military "pull-down" brass
168...
Here are some shots of the current progress.
The Lisenfeld 6x42 Spezial scope is installed in TPS 26mm medium steel rings. These are great rings, but not quite authentic to the period of the...
I finished off the bipod handstop this week. I reverse engineered the handstop from photos and sized the spigot to fit my bipod. I made a few changes including the addition of an anti-rotation pin...
The target turrets are on hold for a while, so I decided to make a handstop w/spigot for my PH bipod.
I'm not sure if the Canadian Forces issued PH bipods with the C3, but mine is getting one....
Next up is making target turrets for my Lisenfeld 6x42 scope, to replicate the functionality and looks of the Khales ZF69. However, I have run into one of those issues that hobby gunsmiths run into,...

I disassembled a 1/4-28 sling swivel and proceeded to make a shank with a buttress thread...
I promise no more target rail posts after this one.:nono:
I decided not to utilize the t-nuts shown in the previous post for a couple of reasons (too big, inletting more complex, etc.). I...
The stock that I have originally used wood screws to secure the rail. However, I decided I wanted a more secure mounting method, by using machine screws, screwed into t-nuts that are inlet into the...
I completed a few more items today.
1. Made target rail from 1/2" x 1/4" cold rolled steel (1018)
2. Drilled and tapped (1/4-28) target rail
3. Sandblasted and Parkerized (Manganese Phosphate)...
Here's a quick update.
a few weeks ago I glass bedded the action with DEVCON 10110 and mounted Weaver Grand Slam steel bases.
I can't justify (or find) an $800 Khales ZF69, so I bought a...
Well, it has been almost a year since I said I would post a build thread for my C3 rifle build.
Life has kinda got in the way, but this summer I got down to business.
I started with a PH 1100...
I'm curious if anyone saw the eB auction for two PH sling swivels that finished yesterday. One was an angled swivel (LE action screw) and the other was a PH swivel with wood screw.
It was £5 until...
Yep. Your Safari is a PH 1000 model. They were made on ex-military receivers. The 1100 and 1200 models were made on the Spanish Santa Barbara commercial receivers without the thumb cut.
Cheers.
Cinders,
I have never heard of rifling a barrel after it has been contoured. Can you imagine a lightweight sporter barrel or most profiles for that matter not twisting and distorting during the...
Hello,
I just made a quick M82 barrel profile in Solidworks based on the most reliable info I was able to find.
It looks like quite a few of us have M82 projects on the go.
Enjoy.

Does anyone know if the PH 1100 and 1200 Santa Barbara receivers retained the standard M98 action screw thread (1/4-22) or did they change to 1/4-28?
On Numrich and they have action screw sling...
I doubt the "swamped barrel" was intentional. It was probably due to machining issues. It is hard to eliminate chatter when contouring a long barrel between centres. You tend to get a lot of chatter...
Thanks. That's a pretty insignificant taper over 26".
Thanks for the quick response. I'm going to go with a 26" 1:10 barrel then. With respect to the barrel contour, is the contour in the attached pic close enough?
Cheers.

I'm building a C3 /M82 sniper clone and have found conflicting information on barrel length.
I know the M82 has a 26" barrel, but have seen various numbers on the C3 (not C3A1) of 24" and 23.75"....
