    1905 Ross bolt

Having some time on my hands, I removed my bolt!! The bolt must have uncocked as I heard it click. Now, I want to replace the bolt but, it won't go back in while uncocked.

What do I do? I tried recocking the bolt but it does not catch. Do I have to put a piece of wood into the bolt to hold it cocked? Also, my bolthead does not have the screw threads like the 1910. Thanks

    1905 bolt

The 1905 Ross rifle had solid locking lugs. If you have problems with the bolt again, hold the bolt in your right hand with the head pointing left. Hold it solid with your right hand. Place your left hand forefinger and thumb on the bolt head, and pull the bolt head outwards to the left, rotating it to the right. It should click into place after about one inch of travel. You can then assemble the bolt into the rifle, but take care to push down the bolt release on the left side of the rear end of the receiver after it starts in slightly. Just do not take the bolt apart unless it is absolutely necessary.
