    Question Canadian Rebuild Markings?/Partly solved.

Having recently examined a Canadianicon marked Short-Lee, I noticed something not in any of my books, a marking "DA" in the same place an "SSA" peddled scheme rifle is marked.

Is this a Canadian rebuild mark?

UPDATED: Thanks to member Baal the meaning of "DA" has been solved, now for a new question.

Did "DA" ever rebuild or re-inspect SMLE's?

"Same place" meaning on the rear of the action just above the wrist? I've not seen that mark before. Not an Enfield mark above something that isn't an "A" but sort of looks like it?

    Photo possible?

Yes the same place. No it's quite distinct "D.A." (pretty sure there are periods after the two letters).

I don't know if I can get a photo, but I will try.

An update to this, I don't know if it means anything or not but a post on another site pictured a Canadianicon oiler with "DA" on it. Any ideas?

Surplusrifle Forum View topic - The WWI Canadian NO1 MK3 least seen lets see your Canadians.

The fact that both have Canadian marks and "DA" seems more than a coincidence?

I'm not sure what it stands for. But D.A. appears on the 5 rounds of 1916 dated C broad arrow Mk.VII ammo I have.

Edit... just googled it. DA stands for Dominion Arsenals.

Thanks Baal, I found more on the oiler too:

    Canadian_Enfield_Oiler_Makers

Now I guess the question is if they ever rebuilt/re-inspected SMLE's?
