I mentioned the ship's bell from the wartime "Town class" cruiser HMS Edinburgh in another post this evening and that it is now located in the Scottish war museum at Edinburgh castle. Here is a picture of the bell which I photographed a few years ago while on a visit to Scotland. I believe that there is some damage to the bell, not visible in the picture, which I assume happened when the ship was sunk during the war. As previously mentioned the ship was transporting Russian gold which was eventually salvaged in more recent years.Information
