Finn M38 Carcano front sight question
Can someone advise on the height of the front sight above the base for typical Finn M38 Carcano rifles.
The front sight on the rifle I own is about 7/32" above the sight base, and looks like it was filed to that height. I recently acquired newly manufactured ammunition, and the rifle is shooting higher than expected, using the Italian sight picture.
What are the chances of finding a correct front sight if this one has been bubba'd?

I can't help you with the height issue or the replacement issue as I've been trying to do the same for about 4 years with no luck. Someone filed the front sight on my Finn M38 into a very odd shape and I'd love to replace it.

Springfield Sporters (ssporters.com) has several sight blades for the Carcani

I own a m91 TS. The standard front site is too low to hit point of aim at 100 yards, so just tonight I used Loctite two part putty to build it up. I will take it to the range and file it down as necessary until I’m on target at 100 yards. Then I can shape it and flat black spray it. Side benefit is that I can heat it up and knock it off and I’m back to original set up.
This may be helpful to you if you can’t find a post at the above site.

Sometimes the Finns replaced the front sight on the Carcano to a higher one to make the POI match a standard sight picture (i.e. top of the notch instead of the bottom of the notch like how the Italians did it). Not sure if this is the case here, just sharing what little I know on Finn owned M38s.

The Finns replaced the front sight which is why I can't find a correct replacement.
