    That could be repaired fairly easily by plugging and if done carefully, you'd barely be able to see it.

    A plug cutter is a wonderful tool any piddler should have:

    A dowel rod would be end grain and it’ll never match right. The plug cutter is the only way to go especially when they’re this cheap.
