    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.     Coincidentally, I was in a bookstore on Saturday morning and the book titled USS Indianapolis was on display, front and centre, just inside the front door.

    The ship did exist on paper it was her route & time of departure and return that was ultra secret thats why the poor SOB's floated for so long, kudus to the Catalina pilot who used his plane as a giant raft for as my of the survivors that could fit and staying on the waves.

    I've read the book twice over the years "Abandon Ship" been a fair while now, but harrowing tales of the torpedo's hitting, those god awful days for the survivors covered in fuel oil, baked by the sun, their life jackets became very troublesome as the kapok swelled and many could not get the knots undone they were tightened so much, blokes going mad diving down & coming up saying the ship is just underneath them and there is plenty of water there till they did not surface anymore.
    Then the sharks found them.........................
