Bertram and Jamison brass
I have 20 each Bertram and Jamison 577/450 cases. I will be using them in only one rifle a Mk4. Do they need to be annealed before using? I have been using resized 24 ga shotgun brass that I only neck size and weren't annealed and so far haven't gotten any neck or shoulder cracks.

I have about 70 jamison brass that are on thier 2nd firing. I plan on annealing them after this round of loadings. They are too costly not to try and make them last as long as possible.

If you mean a 577/450 in a MkIV and it is a Pattern A or B and you are using Lee dies, you better Anneal after every firing. C Pattern MKIV you might get away with every other firing.
I strongly recommend you read and heed the guidance Dr. Howell's article on annealing, June, 96 Cases
It is very easy to burn one of these cases trying to eyeball anneal these large cases. At $4 to $5 a case when a case fails from being burned, you will weep!
There is no such thing as a MK 4 Martini Henry.

Sarcasm, noted.
If your gun is marked MK4 it would be sure sign it is one of the great number of counterfeits we have been seeing coming out of the Khyber Pass lately. Haven't actually see that Mk yet, but we have been seeing everything marked ICI.

Sarcasm not intended. You have the knowledge of the MH and I am the student. If you feel it was sarcastic, then my apologies.

I have a how-to to make reloadable .577-450 cases out of 3/4" brass bar stock with BP load data, if you want it. toheir@hotmail.com

Why would want to make a weak turned case when drawn, both solid head and shotgun cases area well and readily avaialable, and much stronger and safer than bar stock cases.

Now Double D, are you making nasty remarks about NDFS brass?

No I'm not John, NDFS and a couple of others served us when nothing else was availalble. All my NDFS is long gone lost to pulled rims and split bodies. I never had a split neck however.
With much stronger and safer drawn brass available there is no reason to use turned brass.
