I would love to get one of the Airfix rifles, but not at £700. Its on the wanted list, maybe one day I will stumble over on at a fair or car boot sale.
I'm always looking for SLR related trinkets

The South African's are the best source for badges with FAL rifles on them.

It's called 'mission creep' KtK!
What would be the problem of getting one of the compressed rubber film prop L1A1's into NZ if I were able to get my hands on one?

I've tried not to creep......... see they all contain FAL's or L1A1 rifles
There's no issue about sending a dummy prop rifle to New Zealand. I asked that same question to the authorities about the one shown, their answer was, since it contains no real parts then its a non gun.
Now, if it was a airsoft rifle I would have to get an import permit.
There are white rubber/resin/expanded foam rifles being used in Australia with the Navy cadets for cenotaph guard that I would like to get an example of. Just not sure who's making them over there.

I had one of those back in the early 1970s, yep barrel fell off on mine too.
Remember it fondly and would dearly love one for my collection again today 42 odd years later... Get ready for Kevin to show us a card mounted pristine example from his fantastic collection!

Seeing the Pic does bring back some memories of looking for the plastic bullets....... never realised it was made by Airfix, mine broke internally can't remember exactly. I don't recall the bayonet either.
I did have a pic or two of me with one about 38 years ago...
When playing I used to swap it with my mate for his plastic Enfield No4, which was not far off full size, Bolt would cycle a dummy round IIRC. Happy days when you could run down the street with a No4 and an SLR....
