Here's a start Harlan. I'm trying to figure out what came first, the S J or the SH B. Or were they all mixed up as usual ? You heard from Painter lately ?. Mike.

Will arrange ! I'll have to sort through a box and find the right "floppy discs". They have to be somewhere ! Good to see a bunch of Marines are coming here to celebrate a 70th anniversary and that they are going to set up another/bigger base in Darwin, just across the water from me. All good news. Mike.

    Mike,

War Baby show the type one "I" cut stock high wood as having been marked SJ early production, with the type two "Oval" cut high wood marked SJ or S-HB used through 1943. Low wood used late 1943 through the end of production.
I have a 2,175,176 with an oval low wood, marked S-HB.

Sorry folks but I can't find all my original pics of that one, damn it ! Will take some more when I get the Carbine out of storage. Here's the only others I can find at the moment. If any one wants to follow up on this one the Club have a data sheet on it. I can't remember if it's 100% or not but I know it's pretty close. Mike.
