Pattern 1907 bayonet No. 1 Mk 1
I have a Pattern bayonet No.1 Mk 1 and scabbard . The scabbard has a round frog button and is made of 1 piece of leather stitched vertically. I am interested in restoring the scabbard. The metal tip and top piece were painted black at some point. This is flaking off leaving behind metal in the "white". Suggestions?

an awfull lot of comonwealth stuff was painted with suncorite - basicly black paint - its hazadous so if you have decent black paint use that ,
having said that , im inclined to leave mine alone - i rather like the 'been there-done that' look , but thats just me ,
the round frog stud would be a later version , the early ones were almond shaped , but without knowing the vintage of your P1907 its hard to tell you more , other than they were produced from 1907/8 thru WWII [by the ausies and later by the indians ] an earlier one would not have the clearing hole in the grip , a later one would - but you can tell much from the markings on the blade and photos would help
