Nice barrel but how would anyone restore a carbine with a barrel that lacked the firing proof? I didn't think that mark was made until a barrel was installed and test fired with a proof round.

    Charlie,

The $700 is the buy it now price. You can get a bargain because the starting price is only $699.99

Isn't the intertwined P over W in the oval circle, the Winchester Proof?
    I've always thought so.
Don't recall seeing any stamped P's on any of mine.
Just the PW along with the W marking. Or a partial W stamp.

    JimF,
    Lets see now........
Remember WRA frt sights selling for up to......$100
The L marked ones for nearly.........................$200
    Early Type I band.........................................$200+
    Used barrels........................................... .....$200+
Barrel unissued in the original wrap.................$400

This time on 'Change' might mean more than one thing.
Since the 'Change' has anyone managed to get away from a gun show with any cash left?

    Cheers

    macgunner01,
About a year ago we watched some L (Lyman) marked Winchester frt sights sell for nearly $200 on both Ebay and GB.
Last one I seen sold since then was by the GB seller Hooah or something like that. His name is Carl. That L marked frt sight sold for about $180 if I recall correctly.
I remember him listing S'G' 15 rd mags starting at about $75.......

    Here........I found him,
    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=143042180

    His other auctions,
    GunBroker.com Auctions by hooah2

Just makes you want to count up your S'G' mags !!

Wow, that one starts at $99.99 with a buy it now of $135. And it shows wear from use. I guess if he can get it good. But who would pay that much?

The Winchester barrels were proofed in a special fixture/proofing receiver. The proof PW in an oval was stamped before the barrel was mounted on a rifle receiver. Just a bit of carbine trivia for the newbies.....
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
