    CMP Ammo Sold Out?

The guys on the CMPicon forum( http://www.odcmp.org/new_forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=77139 )are saying that the remaining ammo is being used to fill existing orders. Hope that isn't for too long.

I don't think they are completely sold out..........My guess is they are going to limit ammo(surplus) to the purchase of a new rifle in the future.

I wonder what effect the availability of ammo will have on future rifle sales?

It might have a major impact on future rifle sales. Probably more so with regular shooters. The guy buying a Garandicon as a SHTF rifle, will pay the high price for a few cans.

The CMPicon website says that they are filling in house orders, and not accepting new orders as of the 28th....They are not selling any of the ammo, no 22 LR, 30 Carbine or 30-06.
    Darn Darn Darn.

I'm thinking they are just swamped and the quickest way to cut down on paperwork is to cut the ammo temporarily. That way they'll get the ammo backlog caught up.

That's my guess. They've be really backed up for since election time on ammo orders. It was at the point ridiculous. 6 months for an ammo order, longer if you ordered .30 carbine. I used to order books, T shirts, and tools there but I gave up due to the wait. I'd rather have the product in a timely fashion and I figured I eliminate an order in thier backlog.

Now if they had some rifles I must have again.

In my humble opinion, ammo mfgs could care less. The bean counters in charge want X amount of profit. If they can make more, they will charge more. They are unwilling to expand their facilities due to voter apathy. Thats right. Voters who put the same clown into legislative office, term after term. Either by direct vote, or by sitting at home watching Homer Simson instead of voting the clown out of office, who places his or her senate vote against things that affect our hobby, as in the case of ammunition.

Why should company X invest millions in producing more ammo when the customers who are clammoring for more product, keep voting clowns into office who are trying to shut the company down? Case in point, john kerry and arlen spectre are still in office. Can you explain to me why firearm owners are voting, or not voting them back into office?

If you want more ammo, reload while you can. Or get out of your reclino-chair and vote. Send those clowns packing.

I have been buying ammo and Garandicon's since the 1990's and this has happened a dozen times. It is one of the best sale strategies around. They always run out and when more comes in people hoard it thinking it will never come around again. I remember when they said they would never ever ever be allowed to sell carbines. Rick Bicon

    CMPammo

Just stopped at the south store today. They are selling - in store only - 240 round cans of the HXP. I picked up one of the special rifles they are selling. There were about 100 5.4 - 5.8 mil springfields that were virtually unused - but the stocks were danaged so they replaced them with CMPicon stocks. Mine is 5.8 mil absolutely no wear and all correct. They are selling them for $795. As of noon they only had about 13 left. These are sold only at the store. It was a fun visit. I was looking at the rack grades less wood and found a 250,xxx rifle with original finish and the original 6/41 barrel. Never been refinished the chamber face is in the white. The barrel gauges 4 at the throat and 1.5 at the muzzle. It even has the correct -2 bolt and -1trigger guard. The rest is mixed. I was stneding there with four guys looking over my shoulder who kept asking if I was going to buy it. I think it was a good buy for $350. I'm not sure what I'll do with it now though. Also picked up an HRA with correct 3/8 stamp on the stock and all hra parts - field grade but 3 throat and 1.5 barrel. This can get addictive
