Hi there,
I have the opportunity to purchase a Snider-Enfield rifle. I is of the 3 barrel band type, the top of the -well:- action is marked "II **", the lock is made by LSA in 1878 and marked "EIG", i.e. for the Indian Government. Now, in that time frame, shouldn't the action be marked "III"? The barrel is marked ""STEEL" on the left hand side. Sorry, just have one pic.
Is the gun somewhat cobbled together or even a Khyber pass thing???
As a novice in the blackpowder era, I am not able to decide if there's something fishy about this old warhorse or not. Maybe someone out there can help me??
