THE WARS TO START ALL WARS

Did you know that on this day in 793 the Kingdom of Northumbria in the UK sees uninvited guests arrive on Lindisfarne, an island off of Englandicon's northeast coast.

What these 'Northmen' do there, including destroying the abbey and killing its monks, will jolt Europe and earn the Vikings a fierce reputation for the ages. This attack was said to be the catalyst that started all wars on English soil!!

    Netflix series

Have just finished watching "The Last Kingdom" set in Englandicon (it was not called that but for us here I'll use that) around 800AD and followed a saxon slave raised as a dane ending up fighting them & others for King Alfred.
Its part fact/part fiction with battles being reasonably accurate but they use the shires or lands with their real names at the time Wessex does not even resemble how we spell it nor Winchester or London what it portrays is abject poverty and a gruesome life at war apart from the plundering and well er the often gay pass time of "Humping" as they called it in those days!!!!

Is that the film where he pulls the attack towers over with catapults as they endeavour to assault the fortifications? If so its a good film.

He’s talking about ‘Kingdom of Heaven’... Good movie despite its inaccuracies if it’s the directors cut but almost unwatchable in its theatrical version.

I too like ‘The Last Kingdom’, again, despite its inaccuracies and a protagonist that is way too Hollyweird pretty for the era.

"...the catalyst that..." Nope. The assorted tribes were fighting each other and various invaders long before Lars and Sven decided to go for a boat ride.
Boudicca was fighting Rome in A.D. 60 or 61. Julius Caesar invaded Britainicon twice: in 55 and 54 BC. The Celts drifted by between 2000 BC and 1200 BC. The Anglo-Saxon's around 410 AD. The Norse were late comers.
"...does not even resemble how we spell it..." Isn't The Queen's English. Or any other kind of English. Spelling in the Dark Ages wasn't an exact science anyway. Getting that way again.
    Spelling and Grammar count!
