Lee Enfield No5 MkI

In 1964, I bought a Lee Enfield No5 MkI (Jungle Carbine) at the local Towers Store for $23.00. I later sold it to raise tuition money for university. Recently, I found my notebook with SN etc. Having learned that this is a small world when one scratches the surface, I wonder if it is drifing around out there somewhere. SN was AA5056 and it was manufactured in May 47

Well, that is a long shot!! I have two No. 5's. I'll check the serial numbers. Don't hold your breath, as they are not easily accessible. kj

The Jungle carbine was one of my favourite moose hunting rifles. Mine fed 220 grain bullets in stiff handloads flawlessly.
I have been a No. 4 fan for fifty years. IF I could only have one rifle a No 5 Jungle Carbine would do nicely. It is so much easier to carry than a No. 4 and less awkward that any accuracy tradeoff at hunting ranges is not a major factor. Also the flash hider is great in snowy conditions as even with some snow in it the bullet goes on its way...I dont mean plugged but the usual amount caught in carrying in dense bush. Carbine is ideal for snowmobile carry.
