    $383 Rear Sight

M1 Carbine Flip Type I Rock Ola | eBay

Three bidders over $300. It's a shame this kind of thing will destroy original, as-issued carbines. Things have really gone crazy since the last CMPicon sale.

I am wondering if just the base is marked or the leaf is also marked? It doesn't say.

Why? Do you think guys will part out their guns for high prices?

Yes, maybe not a true collector. But a dealer or someone who may have inherited a carbine might.

It doesn't help make the Carbine go bang [I guess].

In the picture of the base upside down, the base appears to have a raise edge and the other side of it is blurred in the picture. If it is a raise edge then the sight is a repo. And the machining on the side of it looks very course. But I guess people have more money then sense.

I don't know if your post is sarcasm or not, but since you're a gun guy I suspect it is. Ebay had religion for about 3-4 (?) years, during which time they started by banning all gun parts as I recall. They quickly relaxed their policy to not selling those heinous gun "firing components" (whatever they are), which I believe included barrels. Then, in the past year or so, I suspect someone told the pious they were losing a bundle with their policy and the sales of banned nasty parts began going through with relative ease. Now I think they will sell anything but a whole gun or a receiver - and I believe a few of both have slipped through the cracks. Today they list machinegun conversion fire control parts (I don't think I need to be more explicit) hand over fist, and stroll quietly to the bank. Ah, yes, to the unprincipled principle does have a price.

I saw a Mauser receiver and bolt sell for $325 a few months ago. I sent the woman selling the item a message that it it was illegal.....she replied that it wasn't a gun. About 10 people bid on it and it sold. No harm no foul I guess. Regards, Rick.

I agree, no harm and no foul. It's just the ebay hipocracy and selective punishment that chaps my a$$. BTW, I don't think the mauser receiver sale was technically illegal, just against ebay rules. If she didn't lawfully transfer it through a FFL then that's a different story. JMHO
