L39 Ejector Screw

My L39 seems to be a bit poor at ejecting empty cases. With the ejector screw being the forward attachment for the PH5C sight, should it have a slightly longer screw fitted? Feed from the 7.62 magazine and extraction are fine, but it rarely clears the rifle on ejection. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Will not make any difference , The L39 was a single loader or if fitted with a Enfield 308 mag. the ejector was part of the Mag, body. If you have a Sterling mag. body it did not have the ejector built into the magazine. The Sterling conversion relies on a auxiliary ejector screwed to side of the action . The fired round will clear the action better if you work the bolt to the rear smartly not slowly .

But - is it an Enfield magazine or a Stirling magazine ?

As stated above - it will only eject correctly with the Enfield magazine, the Stirling magazine does not have the built-in ejector and requires an 'accessory' to be mounted on the action.
