    1903A3 Barrel Date Question

Looking at purchasing a Remington 1903A3. The serial number dates to February of 43. The barrel has RA 9 43. The stock has cross pins and a BA-WI cartouche.

BA-WI is a rebuild stamp, correct? If so, that explains why the stock is in great shape.

If the receiver dates to February, the 9 dated barrel would seem to have been replaced during the rebuild. Were guns being rebuilt that quickly, 7 months or is it possible that the 9 dated barrel could be from build time and only the stock was replaced at rebuild? Or... maybe it when through multiple rebuilds, one for the barrel and one for the stock.

I don't have physical access to the gun right now, so I can't verify other markings and finish. I am trying to determine what would be a reasonable offer, so trying to determine how original the gun is. Thanks for any input.

It sounds like a very typical post-war rebuild. If bore is nice and it is not a reclaimed drill rifle, then $7-900 is pretty usual these days.

Thanks Martin08, I was thinking 800-900 range as well.
