#5 furniture
Picked up a sweet LE#5 today, but the furniture is a little sloppy. Need some advice on how to tighten it up. Thanks

Sorry to sound a bit off or brusque, but what you're saying is like taking your car to a garage and telling them that your car sounds a bit rough. Exactly WHAT part of the woodwork is a bit sloppy? The butt loose? The hanguard flopping around, fore-end loose - or what?

My bad, the barrel moves up and down a little at the handguard/fore-end. Screws are all tight.

Someone with more knowledge will certainly come aboard, but I think the No.5 has a free floating barrel so some play would be natural?

Sounds to me like the fore-end wood has dried out and shrunk a bit. Maybe you need to rtefit the fore-end properly. Detailed instructions about what to look for and how to correct any problems are on this forum somewhere BUT the barrel is fully floating at the muzzle

Hi bigdog, welcome to the site. There is a lot of information on No4 and No5 bedding in plenty of threads. It sounds like you have an issue there. It might be helpful if you peruse some of these threads and then come back and ask more if you don't find an answer in them
Here are the search results for No4 bedding which are relevant: Military Surplus Collectors Forums
And this is a link to one very relevant article that would be good for you to read: http://photos.imageevent.com/badgerd...0correctly.pdf
Have a look around here, there's plenty more: Index of Peter Laidler's on-line series of articles.......
