    Question about Westinghouse Mosin-Nagant bayonet

Did Wstinghouse make bayonets for their Mosin-Nagants? If so, how ere they marked? If not, what bayonet were they issued with? How were M-N bayonets carried when not mounted on the rifle? Thanks for any assistance. --RBruce

I don't know if Westinghouse made bayonets or not but Remington did. Remington and Westinghouse were the the two US producers of the M1891. The bayonets locked onto the muzzle backwards and the spike portion of the bayo fit into a groove cut along the bottom of the rifle.

Always on. Only the Finns and Austrians had scabbards made for them, IIRC.

Not quite right, the Russians had scabbards for their 91's and are used by some troops, and they could be carried on the cavalry Shaska, and the Germans also made Ersatz scabbards for the 91's in several versions.

True, but I didn't count those since it's not really for infantry.

Forgot about the German ones, confused them with the ersatz patterns for the French and Belgian (and everything else) scabbards.

Westinghouse factories produced bayonets- some of the factory markings are upper case "P" and "X" with arrows coming out of the left side. Remington and fayette R. Plumb also prouced M1891 bayonets. An excellent book on the subject is "Allied Rifle Contracts in America"
