Rifle looks reparked to me, markings on scope mount not correct. Cant see any scope markings, bust color of "blackening/blueing" suggest one of the current reproductions.

Need better quality pics of the ends of the scope rings, scope markings at least.

What are they asking for this?...........

Downloaded and enlarged the pic. Asking price 7500 dollars. Also the transit case looks to be for a CNo7 .22 trainer. That is based on depth looking too shallow, and the grooves across the blocks for a cleaning rod.

Yup that is the one at calgary

---------- Post added at 10:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 PM ----------

The transit case was for a 22 and was being sold as such.

I was told the action was teflonned in Belgiumicon and was reissued there after that war, which accounts for the reblueing.

Numbers on the mount are WAY too large and also no picture of the scope data. I have serious misgivings on this one.. I suspect a composite set up.

My wife owns 2 LB snipers. The one you see in this MKLicon entry below and another that's only 18 serial numbers away from it.

It doesn't look right to me....

Compare against this one for starters ....

    1945 Enfield No.4 Mk1*(T) Longbranch Sniper Rifle
    Serial # 90L8161 c/w matching Model No.32 Mk.3 R.E.L Canadaicon Scope Serial # 174-C

    (Click PIC to Enlarge)

    Just my two cents …

    Regards,
    Doug

The scope markings looked right in person and i should have taken pics of that as well

I will see if i can get more shots of that. Anything else i need to get shots of?

    Thanks, Jim

Talked to a chum who was at the Calgary show. The LB sniper has a Britishicon scope on it and "does look a bit hoakey"..his words not mine. The grey, telfon type finish is typical Belgian and was found on a lot of arms that came back to this side of the pond. I've seen Enfield revolvers, Hi-Powers. No.4's and No.7's done in the same finish. It is slick to the touch and almost looks like teflon. Perhaps someone can enlighten us as to what it was. I don't think it was a grey Suncorite 259 (tm) as it has a slick surface and not the Suncorite 259 feel.
$7500.00 is a lot of money for a made up rifle in a No.7 box. There has been a couple of sales of LB snipers for around this price but I don't think the price is sustainable due to where they have gone. It will be much like the No.4T's years ago when a certain party bought up all he could find and then promptly shipped them out of the country. Once the exchange rate changed and the local price escalated as everyone wanted to sell to this guy, he stopped buying and the price stayed flat for several years. It has just recently started to move again, and at that very slowly

I saw this rifle at the show, and the rifle itself looked correct. The small iron cross was on the front pad as well as on the front of the forestock. It did appear to have had Britishicon parts installed onto it over the years however. Seems to me the safety was wrong, and the rear sight was a british example.

The scope and bracket, as well as the can, were British. The bracket had a serial number stamped on it that looked a bit too fresh if I recall, but there was no attempt to number it to the rifle. I think the butt had a British type scope serial number stamped on it, and I am not sure the but was original to the rifle.

In the end, I think a guy was looking at a correct 44 LB rifle in the 71L serial range worth maybe $3-4K, and a British scope, bracket and can worth maybe $1500-2K. Oh yeah, and a chest worth maybe another $50.

Prices in general were a bit on the ludicrous side at the show. Personally, I brought about 16 or 18 firearms/dewats, and only brought home a single 1944 LB rifle so I guess my prices were not too far out of line.
