I got a kick out of this ad. Can't help but wonder what he's smoking.

This is an ad on a local classifieds:

If you tell me your local dealer has mosins for under $400 then go buy that one this includes a lot and is worth more than double that. price will depend on options

M44 mosin nagant modified action and barrel. include old hardware (stock and internal mag well.)
custom fitted clamp on muzzle break
    =$500
    Archangel OPFOR stock
    2x 10rd mags
    1x 5rd mag
    bi-pod
    +$250
    Weaver 2.5-8 optic
    +250

So we are essentially talking $1000 for a "custom" M44 Mosin. Guys will be pounding down this guys door I'm sure.

What else could that $1000 buy? A K31icon in very good shape - $550.00, a side mount clamp on scope mount $90, a good quality Nikon 3-9 scope $120, Weaver scope rings $20. Only up to $780 so far and I have perhaps the most accurate milsurp set up out of the box. He has a muzzle break so add one of those - $40 and maybe a case of ammo to finish it up.

Lets be realistic here. What exactly does he have?

An M44 Mosin - $300 but it's been modified so cut that in half to $150. Parts are supposedly there but he doesn't mention the bayonet, bayonet lug, etc so probably not.

An Archangel stock - huge waste of money because it fits an M44 Mosin Nagant

A Weaver scope - Not sure how much used optics are worth but at least someone who wants something accurate enough to use it can put it on something else.

Or am I being too critical of the fellow? But wait, it's worth double what he's asking. I bet this guy owns a car like in the video on the other thread.

Just garbage. Something similar at a local shop, I shake my head when I walk by it.

Not much there for me to salvage. I cut more firearms up than most due. Not much left on that one. would offer him 50 to 60 for it.

I know the ad you speak of. Did you see the one where the guy restored the SMLE by removing the wire wrap and I think refinished the stock?

Yes. It's all I can do to not tell him he would have sold that rifle pretty quick if he hadn't made a "nice one" out of it by removing the wire. Those are few and far between these days. It's been on for at least six months or so.

Typical of a custom piece. Guys want what they sunk into it back. They don't realize by customizing it they've made a permanent addition to their own gun locker.

That ad constitutes enough reasonable suspicion to get a search warrant for an illegal substance.
