    Lothar Walther 98K barrels

I see on the Walther site that they make replacement 98K barrels. I have heard good things about Walther button rifled barrels.

    Any one tried these?

I have a barrel for the '98K. They also stock stepped-contour barrels for the Gew. '98 and the M96 Swede. They are excellent products. They are short-chambered and require final fit and chambering. Walther is prepared to make any replacement barrel so long as they have a sufficient number for a run. They prefer the original barrel as a model for their CNC setup. At this time they are completing a run of Lee Enfield No. 4 Barrels!

I to am considering a LW barrel for my K98icon in either 06 or 308 in the military step contour as I want to keep my 98K
    in original configuration.
I called them and was told they are long chambered and the shoulders had to be set back to head space.
What do you all recommend, .308 or 30-06 ?
I'm going to be shooting mostly Cast
