M85 barrel / front sight block

Hi, can anyone shed any light as to why there seem to be 2 types of barrel / front sight blocks with the M85. My front sight block sits flush with the end of the barrel where on some others the barrel protrudes a centimetre or so. Why are there two types? Cheers Steve

There doesn't appear to be any particular pattern to them Steve,

I have seen three types from memory, the one you have looks odd and unfinished in my mind.

If you ring Norman Clark Gunsmiths and ask to speak to Bill Smallwood, he works there, he mad ether M85's and may be able to answer the question for you.
