    Cool 1893 Chilean Mauser?

Hello I am new to this forum as this is my first post. I recntly purchased a 1893 model DWM mauser with Chilean crest in 7x57. It has a turned down bolt handle serial# C35XX on metal parts are matching . The stock is 1895 with the chilean cartouche and 1895 serial# C22XX. It does not haveMauser Chileno on the left side of the reciever, it has Deutshce Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken Berlin. on the left side. The rifle is in good to very good condition with about 75% bluing and a very good bore. I thought that the Chilean rifles were 95's with straight bolt handles. This is a full length rifle not one of the carbines. I read where some rifles were contracted to Boer fighters but were stopped by Britishicon Naval forces . These were later used to fill contracts with other countries such as Chileicon. Thanks for any input. FISHN

Might be a Boer... ask RobD

Fishn, that sounds like it could be one of the 7mm Mausers that were ordered by ZAR from DWM and Ludwig Loewe.
Our resident expert for Boer Mausers is RobD. I was delighted when he was able to positively identify my shortened Chileno as a ZAR Mauser, and I hope he can now enter the discussion and help you...

    RobD, are you out there?

    Patrick

P.S: it appears that mismatched bolts are common with these rifles - see the "sticky" at the top of this forum.
