French MAS M-1944 and related stuff...

Several weeks ago at a Gun Show in San Antonio I bought a MAS Model 1944. It came with a few extras; sling, two sealed plastic bags of "stuff", two extra magazines, a bayonet (for a Model 49 or 49/56), a slip on night sight sleeve (M49 or M49/56) and an interesting wooden box - look at the pictures.

The rifle is a Century import; all matching. Haven't shot it yet but will soon...

Good catch, I'd think that they all came in like that but were soon all broken up by shooters to collectors.

I once had a decent 49/56 with all the goodies to include the scope and accessories. I really liked the rifle (and wished I gone for "hand select" as it was a little beat) but I finally decided I didn't want to reload for it (boxer primed brass, yea sure) and didn't like the safety me being left handed. But the 1944 and 49/56 are fine shooting, well made, and durable rifles. Enjoy your new treasure.
