    Shiloh Vacation

I have been wanting to go to Shiloh for years and finally am making the time to do it. It will also be the first vacation I've taken that I can remember that wasn't just a four day weekend.

My goal is to photograph all the monuments and markers on the field. It will be a very busy week. Basically six days to accomplish this. The last two days we are going to go to Nashville.

We will be staying in Corinth Mississippi for the first six days.

I read Jeff Shaara's book on the subject and currently reading two different actual books on the battle and the monuments.

Going in November so it will be cooler but the days will be shorter as well.

So, anyone familiar with the area, anything I must see while I'm there. I expect the battlefield will require all the six days, hate giving up two for Nashville but I have to give the wife something.

Shaara's books are excellent. He and his father use actual letters from the historical figures as research material for their books. Shelby Footes' Civil War series was also extremely detailed and a good read.

I like them. I realize they are not necessarily true but that they follow things pretty closely and make it a bit more personal. The history I'm confident is accurate.
