    For When 7.62x51mm isn't enough

(PR911) Britishicon Enfield made L1A1 rifle fitted with an American 40mm XM148 Grenade Launcher
The rifle is part of the NFC Collection. What a magical place.

Sorry for the low res photo, I screwed up and somehow reduced the quality of the camera and didn't realize it.

I knew about those and wanted one back in the '70s. We had to wait until the C7 A1 to get them. I never got that, why didn't we need them earlier if we needed them later? They were an excellent idea.

Nope. They existed in other countries and not mine. They would have been excellent.

They were originally done in Vietnam, there are a number of examples created and used by the SAS. Going by the condition of the rifle it hasn't seen much use, if any.

That sight is quite a contraption, and getting your hand behind to reach the cocking handle must have been interesting.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.

SLR with 40mm in service in VN with our Australian SAS

Used in anger our SAS on tour during the Vietnam war got creative to improve a squads destructiveness they planted a 40mm GL under the SLR combined it with a 30 round mag on the SLR which apparently did the job.

Picture is from my shelves; SAS A Pictorial History Of The Australianicon Special Air Service 1957 - 1997. By Mick Malone O.A.M(SASR retired) who served in VN with the SAS.
