Nearly transferred to Rhodesia as I always fancied jumping form the DC3 which they were using right through the 70's, used the same kit as we did under Ian Smith..........what a war, and what a waste!!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I have a Russianicon dragunov that was acquired during this war. I’ve never seen footage like this. Nice film. Thanks for sharing this

They trawled our Regiment for lads who wanted to go into the Rhodesian SAS at the time, and I know a few went when the carrot was dangled, lots of extra money, however, they all came home after a year or so and rejoined, as they were totally disillusioned with the way the whole Army was being run and their incompetancy in putting down the rebels............................An interesting war indeed!!

Had to laugh, one guys exit was twisting like a corkscrew...he'd be one big twist from neck to skirt. Make for a faster ride down I guess... We watched that too from here...

Problem with twists as you know Jim is, if they are severe which that guys will be, he'd be concentrating on getting out of them before lowering his container with his SLR on the outsid barrel up.
They were thrown into trees so lets hope he didn't have his barrel embed itself up his jacksey

Many, many made equipment still on landings while trying to kick free of kit...made a "Rear roll" feel completely different. No diagonal line across the back...
