CMP sent an Augusta Arsenal rebuild. Remington Rand frame with a Colt slide and gaudy read rack numbers that would do an artillery man and Saint Barbara proud.

what a joy! Hopefully you'll love that old style, spongy trigger as much as I do now. It's an acquired taste. I got hooked on it after my own CMP 1911a1 arrived.

I am pleased as can be!
The soldier who had it last and his armorer did pretty well. The trigger is a pretty decent 5-6 pounds. Quick trip to the range Saturday and it functioned flawlessly. First magazine of GI hardball on a 25 yard slow fire target at 15 meters, offhand, 6 o'clock hold. I'd call it good enough for who it's for.
About typical for most of the pistols I fired on active duty, a little tap on the rear sight to center it for windage. As long as it's well centered left and right, it'd be serviceable for me. Elevation is easier to figure.
It is a Field Grade. The barrel is a wartime production High Standard.
mine was also a field grade. The barrel was marked '85', with a contract number underneath. I've read these are from a US/Isreali contract production replacement barrels. It is chrome lined, and appeared unfired after I cleaned the dried grease out of it. It shoots very accurately...off a bench. I'm just an average pistol shot, therefore I'll say it shoots much better than me.
