    Could they be 10-32 UNF?

BSF threadform is 55 degree angle, BA is 47.5 degrees, and UNF is 60 degrees, which is probably where the issue is.

Can you get a thread gauge on it to check (accepting that it is probably too small to accurately see what angle it is).

It is a double start thread. ie) there are 2 threads located 180* apart on the threaded shaft.

    The man's right. I believe it's 3/16" x 16 TPI but as it's a twin start thread it's effectively 32 TPI.

There is a dimensioned drawing in a certain little red book on the No.32 scope IIRC.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.
