will a firing pin from an smle fit a no. 4 mk. 1?
The tag on the firing pin says only smle. The cocking piece in have and rifle is a 1943 Enfield made no. 4 Mk. 1. When I screw the firing pin into the cocking piece forma test fit it turns twice and stops, the threads are fine. I'm guessing the smle from the great war and the no 4 Mk 1 are not compatible firing pin wise? Please help as I want my rifle to work! Btw im new and happy to be here.Thanx, jeffe007

The threads aretotally different between the two.
As a matter of interest Jeff, fitting a new firing pin (it is actually a striker.....) is simple if you've got the correct tool but................ The actual setting up of the bolt when you have fitted the striker is quite a complicated process because everything else about the bolt, such as lift, cocking piece clearance and striker protrusion are all governed by the striker. So can I humbly suggest that you read, then re-read and then re-read again an article about setting up the bolt properly.
Someone who is computer literate will point you to where the old thread is. But it's important that you read it and do it properly

The threads are different between a No 4 and SMLE striker. You cannot fit the striker from one type to the cocking piece of the other.
I think that the SMLE striker/cocking piece as a matching set, will fit inside the No 4 bolt body, whether this can then be set up correctly as per the notes above you would have to see.
My No2 MkIV trainer has a No 4 striker set in it at the moment, so I am sure that the No 4 striker will also go into an SMLE bolt body.
