    M1903 extractor with Hatcher hole

I bought a M1903 bolt from Dupage Trading Co. to replace the 03-A3 bolt in my M1903 because it wasn't correct and would stick in the receiver raceway when being manipulated. I got the bolt in the mail and cleaned off the cosmo and came to a cross road. The original bolt extractor has been drilled for the gas escape hole but the new bolt extractor does not. In your opinion should I switch the two extractors or should I let sleeping dogs lie.

    ( COMPLETE M1903 BOLT | Dupage Trading Company )

Correction: Gas escape hole not Hatcher hole.

Your extractor is not drilled for a 'Hatcher hole". It is drilled to mate with the original gas escape port on the right side of the '03. The 'Hatcher hole' is a much larger diameter hole drilled in the LEFT receiver wall to mate up with the gas escape port in the bolt body.

Thank you for the correction, I just assumed any gas release hole on an earlier 1903 was a Hatcher hole. I will add a correction.
