    Portland shows paid off

I do about all the shows in the Portland, Oregon area and only once in a while does anything show up I can get. This show was different. A dealer has this T99L with the nicest original plastic muzzle cover on it. He comes over Friday and I tell him all about it. It matches, the value of the MC ect. Now, he wants to keep it rather than sell it to me for the $350 he had it marked at. (No good deed goes unpunished.) Saturday nothing. Sunday at 7 I'm at the OAC show and pick up about the nicest rear pouch I have ever seen and a cleaning kit pouch with a rubberized buckle assembly cheap. At 9 I'm back over at the Collectors West show. This kid comes in with a T35 and wants a sling swivel and screws for it. I tell him the Japaneseicon rated these as unsafe to shoot a hundred years ago and I swap him out of it. O Joy! I have an extra for my table now. A bit later another guy comes in with the nicest T38 7.62X39 I have ever seen and I get it for his asking price of $130. Ya just never know. Doug

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. That's worthy of a photo or three! The usual condition is "wretched".
