Should I get a Colt letter?
I purcahsed a 1903/08 Colt pocket type II in .380 ser#7905X this weekend that is parkerized but not US property marked with WWII military ties "story"
in nice condition with a ventage houlster.
My question is it worth the gamble to aquire a colt letter? thanks in advance for your opinions. Steve

Hopefully you didn't spend too much to begin with. A Colt letter would add at least $100 to the price of the pistol.
I think your chances of the parkerized finish being applied by the military are about slim to none.
I'd save my money from the letter and buy some ammo. Carry and shoot it. You'll probably like it and get a lot more value for your $100.

That gun was made in 1926 and certainly was not Parkerized from the factory. Any military "story" would have to be thoroughly documented; otherwise it is just another refinished pistol and (because of the Parkerizing) maybe one intended to defraud a purchaser with claims of military use.
IMHO, a Colt letter would be a waste of money.
