    Dockendorff Rifle Sights?

Recently found this interesting front peep sight. The left side of the sight is marked "DOCKENDORFF", right side is marked "PAT. PEND". Sight has a hood that slides to adjust the amount of light entering the peep.

Would like to know more about the sight and the maker DOCKENDORFF?

    Thanks for any information
    Chuck

Dockendorff and Company of Oronoque,Conneticut Introduced there new front sight . In the AMERICAN RIFLEMAN "Gunsmiths Trade Dope" report January 1948 page 65 . Dockendorff was mentioned again in a Dope Bag report July 1948 page 57 . AMERICAN RIFLEMAN December 1948 page 85 was an ad. for the Dockendorff front sight.
The Dockendorff sight most often seen today is one with gold crosswires that fits the 1903 Springfield front sight fixed base.

Thank you for the information. I have no idea which rifle this sight fits but might mount it on a rifle someday.

The company made front sights of the Garandicon for IHC, Spares, and the M7A3 Grenade Launcher. Thanks to Wayne Bradford for providing the image below.
