If you can't view the advertisement, it's probably due to the fact that you have to subscribe to the EE (Equipment Exchange) forums on CGN, in order to view them.

    Seller says:

"First, Nazi marked K98, 1944, byf. This rifle is a truly fine example, numbers of the action and the stock are all matching, and the bolt is all matching (all 4 serials) to itself. The bolt was swapped from another rifle in the past, a common wartime condition, but fortunately that's the only swap that occurred.

The price on this is favourable, at $465 including Expedited Shipping with a signature, as the headspace is long on it. That's about the lowest you'll ever come accross a real Nazi markings intact K98 for, and this is a nice example. It shoots commercial 8mm nicely, as the brass is soft and it stretches enough, but with old surplus it gets more finnicky. I would address the headspace on it if I was planning to shoot it a lot, for a collector it's perfect.

Mfg in 1944 by Mauser Werke AG, Oberndorf a/N

Pretty good price (includes shipping) for a NON capture (RC or other) K98kicon. Both serial numbers of bolt and receiver are within correct manufacture range, although they did make 1,434,219 of these in that year.

There are no pics shown of the barrel area ahead of the receiver. Ask if the barrel is original, as it should also be marked with serial number (matched to receiver) on the barrel, plus the Nazi Eagle firing proof.

It's indicated that the bolt matches itself. Ask if that includes the firing pin matched to the bolt.

Ask if the floor plate is marked with serial number and WaA135, as it should be.

Ask if lower band is marked with serial number, spaced around sling retainer, as it should be.

Ask what's marked on the butt plate?

There's a lot more questions you could ask, but at some point, for $465 including shipping you're expecting far too much for that price anyway. The big question to ask is about the the barrel.

    Hope this helps somebody.

    Regards
    Badger

FWIW, I can't tell from the pics, but hte bottom metal should generally be stamped sheet steel on a proper byf44. Although not imposible, it would be unusual to se an original with a milled rear band like that one has. I'd want ot see pics of the s/n on it.
