Green number stamp in Inland Hi-wood stock

I've seen quite a few Robert Irwin stocks (RSG) with the green numbers stamped in the slide channel.
Today I was stripping some stocks and found a Type II Oval Hi-Wood Inland with OI in the slingwell. Partial CC on the right and 1 inspection P on the front of the pistol grip. I think it had a P on the front....not positive...went thru alot of walnut today. After stripping and using a 2 part wood bleach, I was able to see a 4 digit green number stamp.
I remember Inland44 talking about seeing this on early Inland stocks..but this is the first I've run across.

Has anyone seen this on any Inland I cuts?

I can't help you with your Inland question Charlie but thanks for the RSG ink stamp info. The all original S'G' I bought last month has an ink stamped 27319 in the slide channel and I had wondered about it.

The bluish green, ink stamped numbers in the slide well of OI marked stocks has been discussed in a couple of Carbine Club newsletters. It is believed to be a Julian date where the first two or three numbers are the day of the year and the last digit is the year. For example, "122 3" would equate to the 122nd day of 1943.

Does that apply to S'G' stocks as well? Based on that info, what would the date be on 27319? My S'G' stock is type ll, it seems as though if it was stamped on Jan. 27 of 1943 it should be an "I" cut?

No. It does not apply to the SG stocks either. Just the Overton stocks for Inland.
