The auction site had a hiccup before they closed and none of those bids were honored. I was watching them at the time thinking I'd like to buy myself an Xmas present but the prices were (and are) too rich for me.

No kidding? That is not the bidders fault! The high bidder should get that rifle. I think I'd scream like a mashed cat over that!

Have a heart Bill, they're a non-profit org that's trying to maximize their "donations" for a finite commodity. That would have been a great price though! But could you imagine the bad blood from all the people who had paid 4 to 5 times as much? Not good PR.

I know it is money for a good cause. But I also feel some of their items go for way more then their real value too.

But if you had an auction going on some site, and something happened at the end, would they let you cancel it and relist? I don't know, just asking.

Would it be any different than the situation if you had an auction at physical site and a tornado or other event happened that stopped the bidding process. Do you suppose that in that situation the item would go to whoever had the highest bid when the auction was disrupted? I don't think so. I don't think it would even be fair to the other bidders who were willing to pay more for the item.

A nice dream, but hard to justify.
