    PRC made 6.5 Japanese Ammo, Korean War Era

    Here are two photos of twenty rounds of People's Republic of China made ammo for the Japaneseicon rifles they used in Korea. I'm no expert, but I believe the head stamp gives the following information:

    65 = 6.5mm. 51 = Type 51. D53 = year of manufacture (1953). 10 = factory code.

    Here is a close-up of the head stamp.

    Interesting ammo. The Chinese used a large variety of weapons in Korea. Many which were captured or left over from WWII, including US weapons sent to China then.
    Times sure have changed, The Chinese are well armed with their own weapons now and are a leading suplier/manufacturer of weapons for export, Ray

    The Japaneseicon built a huge complex just over the border from North Korea in the part of China called Manchuria. The Japanese built numerous dams in North Korea to provide electricty to Manchuria. That complex made 6.5mm rifles and 8mm Mauser rifle copies. The entire facility is still there and is still cranking out weapons.
