Philadelphia cop: "Our pistols must have an 8-pound trigger pull".

Spoke to a city cop in Fairmount Park today. He says they are now free to carry any caliber they prefer but the city mandates an 8-pound minimum trigger pull.

He believes this rule arose out of a case in New York City, where some of the cops seemed to have had no control over their triggers and they shot the bejabbers out of some low life.

And so the cops in Philly must suffer.

It seems to me that holding accurate aim would be difficult with such a strong trigger, actually making it more dangerous.

This cop thinks the new mayor is OK, but he said, "It's the rest of the city administration that's corrupt".

Louis: I was on the Phila.Police Dept. for 37 yrs. the last 11 yrs as a firearms instructor. From the time the Glock was adopted an 8lb. trigger pull was required.Nothing new.The pistol was adopted in 1992. The 8lb trigger is not that much of a problem since most Police Shootings are within 21 ft. and half of those are within 3-12 feet.I prefer a 5lb. trigger but the 8lb. was for safety. Although I too feel is is not necessary the only safety is the user.
