Rechambering garand to 30'06 Ackley Improved

Hi, I'm soon coming into possession of a real random parts dog of a Garandicon, and am thinking about rebarrelling, and rechambering with a shilen stainless tube, in 30'06 AI.

Has anyone else done this conversion? There is less body taper with the AI case than the standard, but since I'm likely to keep both chambers and cartridges clean, it should function well, nes pas?
